One of the most popular complaints among women is: “What can I fix for dinner?”. We struggle to remember to take something out to thaw but we also struggle to make meal time exciting. Fixing the same thing night after night will make mealtime uneventful and boring.
Here are some ideas I have gathered from different ladies:
- Write down all the meals you currently fix in a week or two. Using these ideas as a catalyst, put these on a calendar. As soon as you start repeating the meals vary the days you serve them on. Just repeat the calendar for each month or use it for several months and then create a new plan. don’t forget to save your calendar for the future. You’ll always keep your family guessing each meal.
- Flip through your favorite recipe book. Write down the recipe and the page number on a calendar. At the same time you can write down ingredients on your grocery list so you will have everything to make your meals.
- Plan one night a week to try new recipes. Some of these will become your family’s new favorites.
- Don’t forget to plan for weekends, family get-to-gethers, company dinners, and a dessert every once in awhile.
- Remember make a little extra for lunches the next day.
Planning meals ahead of time will save you more time and money. It will ease your stress levels each day as your dinner plans are already made. It will also help you to eat healthier. Below are some advantages of planning each dinner meal.
- Your kitchen cupboards and refrigerator will be stocked with healthy food.
- You’ll save time and money because you will make fewer trips to the grocery store
- Since each dinner is planned you will not indulged in so many fast food, high calorie meals because you won’t have to go through the hassle of ‘what do I fix tonight?’
- You will find that you have increased the variety of foods you eat each week creating a well balanced diet.
- Dinner time will become a relaxed enjoyable time for the family to spend together.
