| Is it really necessary to take a multivitamin? Can’t we get what we need from our food?
Drs. Kathleen Farfield and Robert Fletcher of Harvard Medical School, writing for the Journal of American Medical Association in June 2002, wrote that all adults should take a multivitamin daily, regardless of the state of our health or our age. They write “insufficient vitamin intake is apparently a cause of chronic diseases”, and review studies on vitamins and disease that indicate insufficient vitamin intake increases risk in a wide array of chronic disease, including cardiovascular disease and certain cancers. This and other studies make it clear that a multivitamin should be a part of a healthy lifestyle. Our ChoiceOur family uses USANA Health Sciences for our vitamin needs. (Full disclosure - we are also distributors for the company). USANA manufactures the #1 rated adult and #2 children’s vitamin. We feel that spending a little more on great products just makes sense. |
